Indian Army (Corps of Engineer) —
1987-90 Additional Director General, Engineer-in-Chief's Branch, Army Headquarters (Major General: October 1987 to September 1990): This is the highest and most prestigious management assignment in the Corps of Engineers. Major assignments were:
 
(a)   Training of Officers and other Ranks of Corps of Engineers: was responsible for formulating and laying down training policies, organizing and finalizing training syllabi for all the centres, monitoring training and evaluating training standards for Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks for the Corps of Engineers which has a strength of approximately 75,000.
(b)   Training of Establishments: Responsible for conducting and monitoring functioning of all the Training Establishments of the Corps viz. College of Military Engineering and the three Training Centers at Roorkee, Pune and Bangalore
(c)   Organization: Responsible for involving new organizations in the Corps of Engineers, revising, updating and evaluating the cost-effectiveness of the existing ones for maximum pay offs.
(d)   Sports and Adventure Activities: Responsible for developing & organizing sports and adventure activities in the Corps, e.g. Around the World Sailing Cruise, Expedition to South Pole and Mountaineering Expeditions.
1986-87 Deputy Military Secretary and Additional Military Secretary, Military Secretary's Branch, Army Headquarters (Brigadier: February 1986 to September 1987): Personnel Management. As Deputy Military Secretary, was responsible for Personnel Management of about 4000 Officers of the Corps of Engineers. This included placements, promotions, courses and career development of Officers. As Additional Military Secretary, carried out same functions for about 35,000 Officers of Indian Army.
1983-86 Chief Engineer, Siliguri Zone (Brigadier: August 1983 to February 1986): was responsible for planning, execution and supervision of all construction works and maintenance of Army and Indian Air Force in entire North Bengal, Sikkim and part of Bihar.
1981-83 Commander, Engineer Brigade (April 1981 to July 1983): As part of a Field Formation, number of Engineer Regiments and Services Units were part of the Brigade.
1979-81 Director Management Studies, Army Headquarters (Col: July 1979 to March 1981): Human and Resources Management: headed the organization created by the Army. The assignment involved epitomizing human resources management (effect manpower savings), improve inventory management and eliminate wasteful costs and effect overall cost-effectiveness in various Subsystems. Consequently a large number of improvements were effected.
1977-79 General Staff Officer Grade I, Work Study Directorate, Army Headquarters (Lt. Col: December 1977 to June 1979): As Team Leader, was responsible to organize, plan and conduct detailed study of a number of major problem areas within the Army. The requirement was to improve the cost-effectiveness in the field of resources management, inventory control, manpower savings and personnel management. During this period, I carried out six major studies and a number of minor studies.
1971-73 Commanding Office, Regiment, Field Area (Lt Col: March 1971 to November 1973): Commanded the Regiment during 1971 Indo-Pak War, in the famous Shakargarh Sector. Immediately after 1971 Indo-Pak War, was responsible for planning, execution and supervision of a very large number of RCC field fortification and ditch-cum-bunds of the borders.
1966-68 Senior Instructor, College of Military Engineering, Pune (Maj: March 1966 to May 1968): was responsible for planning, conducting various courses and imparting instructions to officers and other ranks.
   
1963-66 Commanded a field company of Engineer in Nathula Area (Sikkim), North Bengal and during 1956 Indo-Pak War.
1960-62 Adjutant and Training in Charge of Recruitment in Bombay Engineer Group and Centre, Kirkee.
1959-60 Platoon Commander (Lt: December 1959 to July 1960): was Officer-in-Charge of the very first Army construction at Leh (Ladakh) during 1959. The building construction was done at an altitude of over 10,000 feet.
1955-57 Platoon Commander in a Field Unit in Jammu & Kashmir
1952-54 Commissioned in Corps of Engineers - December 4, 1954, after two years Training at National Defence Academy (Military Wing).
